Janesville Wisconsin Fun Facts

Janesville, Wisconsin is filled with fun and exciting memories and new ones in the making. Here are just a few examples of what this city is known for:

1. Camden Playground--The largest handicapped accessible playground in the world.
2. Our Rock Aqua Jays - National Championship Water Ski Team.
3. The first public high school built in the state.
4. The Janesville Country Club - the oldest country club in the state and sixth oldest in the nation!
5. NFL Hall of Famer Bart Starr threw his first touchdown pass as a professional in Janesville.
6. Legendary football coach Vince Lombardi gave his last speech as a Packer and his first as a Redskin in Janesville.
7. The first established 4-H youth fair in the country.
8. The first Wisconsin State Fair was held in Janesville.
9. Carrie Jacobs Bond wrote the classic song "I Love You Truly" while residing in Janesville.
10. The Gideon Society began at the Janesville YMCA in 1899.
11. The largest General Motors production facility under one roof - over 4 million square feet.
12.  Janesville's Peace Park is the site of the Worlds Tallest Peace Pole at 52' in height.
